Empowering a Clean Energy Leader for the Future
SEIA (The Solar Energy Industries Association) is celebrating their Golden Anniversary, and with 50 years of research, education, and advocacy they play a critical role in the transition to solar power in this century. But with all the focus on expertise, knowledge share, and connections, the nonprofit’s digital presence had taken a backseat for too long.
Brand Strategy & Development
The High Seas team and SEIA communications team worked together to land on a more modern, smart, timely, and sophisticated system to pair with the extraordinary content and resources that the SEIA organization provides. Building on the foundational SEIA logo and brand colors, we significantly up-leveled the brand experience to a more extensive digital language. We expanded the brand package to include a robust hierarchical type system to highlight key messages; expanded on the color palette and use of color to create depth; and added textures in lieu of iconography to convey energy for a more distinct and ownable set of visual elements.
The Project
With such a big success in helping to advocate for the Inflation Reduction Act, SEIA realized that their outdated systems were overshadowing the quality and expertise of their unique offerings. SEIA.org needed an overhaul - they were ready for a fresh, modern, and easy-to-manage website. It had to be professional, have a straightforward user experience, and handle both breadth and depth of content. And it had to be done on a nonprofit budget.
The Approach
By leveraging an extended timeline and the skills of core SEIA team members, High Seas proposed to slowly and deliberately build a strategic set of design components that could be flexible and dynamic. With our SEIA Product Owner providing clear direction and definition of content, our UX and Design team focused on assembling the custom components into templates that could be built into a user-friendly WordPress system.
The Result
SEIA’s new website was revealed at their trademark annual event - RE+ to great acclaim. With a dramatic improvement in access to information, SEIA members are expected to become more engaged and active in the solar community.
A new ad management system allows for additional revenue streams as well as advertising opportunities for SEIA partner companies. This brand update will launch a new decade for solar in America.
